I want to remove the system files and format and change the drive letter but of course vista decided on installation that it wanted to use it. How do I get the system files moved back to C: without having to disconnect my solid state drive and reinstall to prevent it stealing it again? Cheers, Damien.

I am finding Vista frustrating. VERY non-intuitive, and I can no longer easily do basic things. I can't even edit folder toolbars and add basic tools I like to use (cut, copy, move to, etc.). Can I simply use my XP install disk to wipe the drive and install XP and get rid of Vista? Of course you can.

There is no "backward" file to access. When I try to install XP, I get an error message, "Conflict error: Programs trying to install are older than already installed." So, I can't even install XP and use that program to delete/remove Vista. Help! My productivity is being destroyed! -- Ed.

Once formatted you can bring your saved files back to D. If you don't have the room on C to transfer everything over, just do the fixboot and fixmbr and that will at least remove vista from bootup. You can then manually delete the files from D that you do not want.
